Truth be told, I'm not quite ready to let go of summer.

Lazy afternoons...walks with no where to go...lunch hours that turn into dinner hours.

Those are the days that adventures await.

So, where did we escape to?

The tranquil seaside town of Tybee Island.

Located outside of Savannah, it's just a short four+ hour drive from Atlanta. Rich in history and in most ways is like walking through an era gone by, the homes have character, the businesses a past, and where southern hospitality is at its best!

There's no better place to stay than at a Mermaid Cottage. A collection of charming rental homes, that each offer their own little piece of heaven.

For this trip we stayed in the Eisenhower Retreat, an 1894 beach house with a storied past. Built in conjunction with the Savannah-Tybee Island Railroad in 1887. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower stayed here in 1947. The ceilings reach sky high, the exposed wood walls, and the primarily all-white interior have me wanting to never go home. You'll find me in a rocking chair on the wrap around porch enjoying a lazy afternoon...taking a walk on the beach with no destination in mind...and extending lunch time into dinner time.

Because, after all, we're now on Tybee Time.
