The moment I wait for all year is here…my very first rose bloom!
She’s an Albrighton Rambler Rose from David Austin Roses and her delicate ruffles are my favorite! Truth be told I saw her yesterday morning and look how more defined her colour and tone were…
Can you believe that…and yes, this is the same sweet bloom! One of the many surprises I’ve learned with garden roses is their tone changes as the days pass on. Kind of like their own ombre display! And in order to encourage maximum gorgeous blooms, this rose food has served me very well the past year! And in order to help with disease and pesky bugs, this spray has been a real winner! This particular rambling rose lives on my children’s playhouse…
She’s one of the least thorn-iest roses I’ve found - perfect first rose for the kiddos. And her sweet scent is a fun companion to the many hours of playtime this little house puts in! This year I’m excited to see even more branches rambling about the exterior! So, while I soak up this little bloom and anxiously wait for more…here are photos from last year from my little rose garden…I can’t wait for the rest of these to begin to bloom!
These Comte de Champagne roses begin as the most beautiful buttery yellow, then gradually fade to peach tones then white…above is a photo of days 1-5! One thing to note with garden roses is their blooms typically only last 3-5 days. Fleeting, but makes them that much more sweet!
These Royal Jubilees come in a gorgeous pink pigment and their chalice shape makes them mimic that of a peony. The sweet scent makes these gorgeous in the garden or in the home!
And finally the Alnwick Rose (shown above very right ) is hands down my favorite scent wise. The fragrance is strong yet sweet and permeates throughout the garden!
Now can you see why I wait for these days all year?! Sending love to you friends!!!
