With school on the horizon and virtual learning being the new standard, I’ve rounded up my favorite items that have kept me feeling confident in the teacher seat and have kept my twins engaged and entertained while learning at home! This kindergarten workbook (you can find the Pre-K version here, and the 1st grade version here) have been a life-saver for me! It’s just the guidance I need for an unofficial lesson plan and is an engaging workbook for the little ones! This summer my kiddos showed a real interest in learning to tell time. I was shocked at how quickly they began picking it up from this Time Activity Set! It includes a matching puzzle game, a game with the dice, and you can use dry erase markers to write on the cards (my kids love these for all the fun color options!). For science class we all got a huge kick out of this Wizard Science Kit! It made learning fun and the colorful changing wizard potions were prefect for the Pre-K - 1st grade group. We also did this science kit over the summer and while the kids loved it too (the volcano and rock set being a favorite), I found the kids a bit less engaged in the crystal making etc (for us it took a week for them to produce)…so if you’re looking for a set that’s has more instantaneous results definitely go with the wizard set! My twins are just now showing a real interest in reading and this Sight Word Swat game makes learning fun! Essentially the kids have a fly swatter, I yell out a word and they swat it. We’ve kept it simple, only using a few words at a time or focusing on groups, I was shocked at how quickly they learned color (blue, red, green, etc) site words from playing this game! If you’re looking for an all in one art set, this is it!! Robots, unicorns and jewelry are just a few of the things my kids have been making with this set and I love that it all stores easily with it’s provided cardboard case. And lastly my kids LOVE this Day & Night Earth Globe! At night it lights up (fyi, it has a sensor and therefore will only light up in a dark room or space ~ we learned this the hard way, first assuming it was defected when we plugged it in with no lights…just take it to a dark room during the day, or wait until evening for this globe to do it’s light up thing!) It’s colorful and seems durably well made for little ones to use, plus what kid doesn’t want to be able to point out the north pole and Hawaii on their very own globe?! There you have it, our current home school favorites! Hope you’re enjoying your summer and wishing all you parents out there all the good vibes for this years virtual learning!!!
