Every Spring we go strawberry picking and it’s become one of my favorite days each year! This past week we headed slightly south of the city and picked strawberries at Adams Farm Fayetteville followed by lunch at Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop in Serenbe! It was a magical day, weather was perfect, the fields were ripe for the picking and time slowed down for us at Serenbe!
Love how much the kids adore picking strawberries! Seriously Adams Farm has the best crop of strawberries I’ve ever seen! They’re full and luscious and packed with ripe-for-the-picking strawberries. They’re currently open Monday-Saturday, 9-4pm for u-pick strawberries. But of course call them ahead of time to confirm times and availablilty. (Adams Farm : 770-461-9395) Worth the short drive and of course you know I’m a huge fan of supporting our local farmers!
We were given a designated row to pick and I loved watching the kids find the perfect strawberries.
Which wasn’t hard! And if you’re curious about pricing, feel free to call for specifics, but for us, each full bucket weighed in right around $30. And also to note Adams Farm only takes checks or cash, so come prepared…for us a stop at the gas station atm across the street was needed.
After Strawberry picking, we decided to scoot over to another favorite South of Atlanta spot….Serenbe.
Serenbe is essentially a planned utopian community, modeled after old world European towns. Whether your local to Atlanta, or visiting, Serenbe is a place to see for sure. They also have the quaintest of Inns and mulitple options to stay in, should you wish to make a weekend out of it!
For us, we love a day trip, and lunch at Blue Eyed Daisy Bakeshop is always a fan favorite! After lunch, is the perfect excuse to walk around and admire the landscape and architecture that makes Serenbe so special!
There’s also beautiful paths and gardens to explore and of course on the drive out, we also stop to see the horses!
Not wanting to end the fun of the day. The kids and I got home to whip up our first batch of Strawberry Jam! We went off this recipe…and these canning jars, which I use for all sorts of things in the kitchen! We were all quite proud of ourselves with the outcome! Peanut Butter and Jelly is P’s all time favorite, so for him, this was best.day.ever!
I hope this weekend, you too are able to get out and explore and maybe pick a strawberry or two!
