Oyster Shucking @ Red's

There's something I inherently love about this time of year.
Something that I can't quite put a finger on...can't quite put into words.
Rather it's a place...
It's a bright sunny sky...
A cold winter breeze...
The smell of an ocean tide...
A blue moon, an orange slice...
A really handsome guy...
And a bucket of piping hot steamed oysters.
That's what I love about this time of year.  A simple meal, with my favorite guy on the coast of the Carolina's.  Shem Creek to be exact and Red's Ice House is the place.  No fuss, no frills and yet it's one of my favorite places in the world.
Two months left in oyster season, and if I had my way I'd spend every day of it at Red's.
Happy Shucking!

Ranunculus & Larkspur | Flower Arrangement

Imagine my surprise, when this pretty & perfect bouquet arrived on my doorstep this afternoon.

The white ranunculus blooms paired with the pink larkspur flowers were just too pretty not to share with you!  So, who could be so thoughtful & sweet to send some cheer my way?!
My absolute favorite bloggers...
Bridget & Casey from The DIY Playbook!
These two blogging besties are talented, smart, creative and wicked good business women!  And they're nice.  Genuinely...sincerely...NICE, GOOD people!  Case in point...this floral happy mail!  So, after smiling from ear to ear, I grabbed a vintage vase, and took some time this afternoon to stop and smell the roses...er ranunculus!
Thanks Bridget & Casey...
I love you bunches!!
(see what I did there?!)

Antique Library Step Stool

It's no surprise I love antique finds.  Pair that with small house living, and what we're typically hunting for are beautiful, yet practical additions.  This antique library step stool fits the bill!  An aged patina, sturdy design and ability to fold up completely made us go with this piece.
We found this at Cornish Trading Company in Cornish, Maine.  Great for additional seating, it also works well as a small side table.  And did I mention the patina?  The warm wooden hue is the perfect texture to give more depth and feeling to our current home's color palette.
Have you had any good finds lately?

Wedding | 5 Year Anniversary

Five years ago, I married my best friend in Charleston, SC.  The date...
Twelve | Twelve

We wed in the quaintest of chapels, then celebrated the evening with good food and good company.  The day was perfectly us...relaxed, fun and most of all happy.  It was shared with close friends and
family and was filled with much joy.  In all seriousness, it was one of our BEST . DAYS . EVER!   It's amazing how quickly the time has gone by and everyday I'm grateful for the life we get to share together.  So, Happy Anniversary Brian, I can't wait to see what's in store for the next five years!  Let another adventure begin!

Blogger Stylin' Home Tours | Christmas 2014 Edition

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  And to kickstart the season, I'm thrilled to be part of another Blogger Stylin' Home Tours Christmas Edition, hosted by Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Co.

If you're coming over from Retro Ranch Reno, welcome and happy holidays!  How fun were her pops of pink!  This Christmas is a very special one for us at Iron & Twine as we have two new additions to the family, 6 week old twins, and Brian and I are celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary!  With so much to celebrate, I set out to make our living room a merry, bright and festive one without spending a lot of time or money.  Inspired by our wedding day, I decided to keep our living room tree simple in green and white with magnolia flower accents purchased from Hobby Lobby.  Magnolia leaves, along with other greenery, were sniped directly from our yard, providing large decorative impact at no cost!   Boxwood wreaths were a thrift store score for $3 each and vintage goods I already owned were added throughout the space.
A vintage wool blanket, and a pineapple adorned pillow, add texture to our armchairs.  The advent calendar is from Wheel & Basket and made with love by my mom.  It's hands down my favorite and has become a staple in our home during the holidays. I look forward to the day when I can share this with Parker & Kennedy!
A vintage basket was bought for a steal at $3, and inexpensive white kraft paper is used for gift wrap.  Other paper in navy and plaid were purchased from Home Goods and the white, grey gingham from Target.

The letterpress coaster garland is from Red Bird Ink.  The pineapple ornaments are from our wedding, originally given as favors.  The ribbon a sale item from Michaels and the large round ornaments are styrofoam, mod podged with paper flowers ~ costing a whopping fifty cents each.
Due to our new additions, this year we decided to start introducing some kid friendly decor into the mix, while hopefully starting some family traditions that we can continue for years to come.  Here's a sneak peak of what we did for Parker & Kennedy's tree, can you guess the theme?!  I'll be back later in the week to share part two of our Holiday House Tour!
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the houses on the tour here!
