I’m sure you’ve seen these decorated Halloween Pretzels floating around Pinterest, and after making them this afternoon, I can attest they are the EASIEST things to make and are the perfect last minute Halloween addition!!! There’s a lot of “Pretzel Rod Recipes” out there, but to keep these simple and quick, I kept to just a few ingredients…basically pretzel rods dipped in melted chocolate (these white chocolate melting wafers are the BEST!) To melt the chocolate, (insider tip: melt in a tall mug, makes dipping easier!) heat in microwave for 30 second intervals, mixing, then repeating until chocolate is melted. To color white chocolate, melt first, then mix in gel food coloring. Dip pretzel rod in chocolate, spin that thing around to give it a good coating, gently shake off any excess…then place on parchment paper. Add any embellishments…sprinkles, sliced almonds, eye balls, whatever. Then allow to rest. Mine only took about 10 minutes for the chocolate to re-harden. Told you, so easy!!!!!!
Mummy Pretzels
If you’re wanting to make the mummy pretzels, simply dip in white chocolate, allow to harden, then using a piping bag (or if you’re like me, you’re out, so use a plastic zip lock bag and poke a tiny hole in one end). Pour melted chocolate in your bag and in a zig-zag circular motion, add those mummy dressings ~ how’s that for technical terms?! ha!
Witch Fingers
For the “Witches Fingers”, simple dip in green colored white chocolate (I made our color a bit more whimsical blue/green, vs super creepy dark green). For the fingernails, press on a sliced almond, I handpicked the better looking ones, and literally just press that thing on like a stick on nail.
Tip: If you were like me and a bit overzealous on the chocolate…i.e. that thing globbed all over the parchement paper…no worries! Let it fully harden, then take a knife to any unwanted edges to smooth things out a bit.
Pink Monster Pretzels
The pink monsters are straight forward, dip in colored white chocolate, then stick on candy eyeballs.
Seriously, so easy, and my kids thought I was awesome! They of course loved the dark chocolate with sprinkle version! Same thing, melt the chocolate, dip in chocolate (these dark chocolate wafers are the BEST!) place on parchment and sprinkle with all the sprinkles! The hardest part is waiting the 10 minutes to eat them!
