This is such an exciting week here in our little neighborhood! I say it all the time, but I am seriously so fortunate to have the best neighbors, and our newest addition, Cari & Matt are having their wedding this weekend in their backyard!!!!!
Isn’t Cari (above) just gorgeous! She’s going to make a beautiful bride! After their original wedding plans had to be cancelled last year from Covid, they decided on an intimate ceremony at home. Which I personlly LOVE the idea of! How amazing of them to make lemonade from what I’m sure was a dissappointing situation! The tents went up yesterday and of course it’s sent the neighborhood abuzz with excitement for the soon to be Mr. & Mrs.!
So a couple weeks ago, to celebrate our sweet and kind bride-to-be we threw a very impromptu tea party (my 6 year old daughter’s idea!) in our neighbor Meg’s adorable white picket fence front yard. And made DIY Flower Crowns which turned out to be so easy and fun to make!!
Meg handled all the food, and is the friend I reach out to for all the latest and greatest food recommendations in and around Atlanta! She is a natural, thoughtful hostess and again a neighbor I am so lucky to have right across the street!
So many yummy treats from Alon’s Bakery and the yummiest quiche from the frozen section at Whole Foods - seriously pick them up next time you’re there!
Then to the flower crowns which turned out so fun and is seriously the perfect craft for a brunch or night with the friends!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Floral Wire
Floral Tape
Scissors and/or Wire Cutters
Flowers & Greenery **For this you can use items fresh from your garden or simple bouquests from your market or grocery store. The key here is picking items that can hold up a bit without water. We kept everything in vases until it was time to make. Look for base items like eucalyptus, other greens and baby’s breath! Then accent pieces : spray roses, carnations, mums, snapdragons all did really well for us. We also threw in a few peonies, which worked for our short-lived fun, wouldn’t recommend those for an all day event!
HOW TO MAKE FLOWER CROWNS
Making turned out quite simple. Again, we kept flowers and greenery in water until it was time to create, which of course made for great centerpieces as well! We twisted two floral wire stems together then fit to each of our individual heads and made a crown. Then wrapped our crowns with floral tape. From there it was as simple as choosing your base items and securing them with more floral wire (cut to size). Then on goes your accent flowers! We found cutting our accent floral stems quite short helped keep the crowns neat and tidy. And again, twising floral wire around the stems to secure to your crown.
The day turned out so fun! And of course has been all my daughter K has talked about the past couple weeks!
